The future of fashion = the end of sewing?

“I have nothing to wear today! Oh well, I’ll just turn on the printer and download me a Chanel.” This could be your future self according to this article on Bloomberg. Now, 3D-printing is not a new concept, but according to the article, a couple of companies are at the present working on home-printable versions. Just think of this for a moment – it will change everything! Why bother running to a store or ordering something online (and waiting for it to arrive only to be dissapointed of the quality and fit to send it back) when you can download something, print […]

A weekend in winter wonderland – my travel tips to Stockholm

If you are looking to get into some holiday spirits, forget the classic trips to Christmas markets in Germany or even hunting down Father Christmas in Greenland/ Lappland/ Rovaniemi/ North Pole or whatever Internet site you happened to stumble across (I am not judging..) claiming to be the real home of Santa. Go to Stockholm! Although here comes the obligatory disclaimer: as it is Sweden, the weather is moody at best so no guarantees for snow and sunshine. It was a combined business and weekend trip (those are the best, not for the business part though, haha) that had us visiting […]

Autumn in a dish – a hearty vegetable stew with aubergine and lentils

There can be no doubt, autumn is upon us. In fact, it is rapidly approaching Christmas. Before we go in to the holiday season however, let’s celebrate the beauty of fall. The beautiful thing about a stew is that you can basically add anything and it will turn out great. The list is endless. A hearty vegetable stew with aubergine and lentils Serves 4-5 3 dl (300 ml) rice  1 […]

Shake your pommes pommes (part 4) – a spicy tomato and apple chutney with raisins

Ok, fine, I’ll admit it. I am getting tired of that word joke in the heading myself now. It’s the last post in this theme, I swear. But what a post it will be! I combined the few remaining apples of my generous gift from both my mom and my mother in law (though it seemed that they were both equally elated to get “rid off” some apples as I was receiving several bags of them..) with the most wonderful locally grown tomatoes in a wide range of colurs and flavours. They looked like red, yellow, pink and green jewels. I love flavour combinations […]

Shake your pommes pommes (part 3) – a French apple tart

Any self-respecting (aspiring) French woman or man must have a recipe for an apple tart up one’s sleeve, right? The tarte tatin being a far too obvious choice (to be honest I have yet to try it as I have to get me a new pan for that), I decided to bake another version of a French apple tart. I wanted a lighter and not so sweet dessert. I am also a sucker for beautiful presentations and fell for the rose petal-shaped arrangement of the apple wedges in this recipe. This tarte aux pommes is wonderful and a new favourite in my recipe collection. It lets […]
